Quincy Jones is an American music producer. He is the son of Sarah Frances (Wells) and Quincy Delight Jones. He has seven children, including actresses Kidada Jones and Rashida Jones.
Quincy is of African-American (West African/Central African) ancestry, with some English, Scottish, and Welsh, heritage, as well as very remote French and Italian ancestry (in the 1500s). According to a DNA test, he is of 34% European ancestry. He is descended from the Tikar people of Cameroon through his maternal lineage.
Quincy’s paternal grandparents were Caesar Jones and Susannah Burgess.
Quincy’s maternal grandparents were Love Adam Wells (the son of Nelson Wells and Sarah Campbell) and Mary Belle Lanier (the daughter of James Balance Lanier and Cordelia Dickson). James was caucasian, and had mostly English, as well as Scottish and Welsh, ancestry; his more remote ancestors also included Nicholas Lanier, a man born, c. 1544, in France, and Anthony Bassano and Elina De Nazzi, a pair of Italian immigrants to England in the 1500s.
