Deric ‘D-Dot’ Angelettie is an American music producer and rapper. He is known for his work with The Hitmen, the production team for Bad Boy Records, and was in hip-hop duo Two Kings in a Cipher, where he performed under the name D.O.P. He has also used the alter ego The Madd Rapper.

Deric is the son of Noemi and Eric Angelettie. His parents were born in New York City. In the Madd Rapper song “Ghetto,” Deric described himself as “born in the gutter. Deric’s paternal grandfather was Edward James Angelettie (the son of Edward Angeletti/Angeletty and Susie Cook). Deric’s grandfather Edward was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Deric’s great-grandfather Edward was born in Mississippi, the son of Raoul Joseph Angelety and Esther/Ester Cage, who were from New Orleans. Raoul’s father, Antoine Angelety, was the son of Antonio/Antoine Angelito/Angelettie, who emigrated from Italy to New Orleans, and of Maria Camelita Ancar, a local woman. Deric’s great-great-great-grandfather Antoine is listed as “Mulatto” on the 1870 U.S. Census. Raoul’s mother was either Catherine Lizida Fille or Marie Louise Beaulieu, both of whom were listed as “Mulatto” and/or “Coloured.” Deric’s great-grandmother Susie was also born in Louisiana.

Deric’s paternal grandmother was named Gloria Smith (the daughter of Frank Smith and Sarah). Gloria was born in New York City, and was African-American. Frank was born in New Jersey. Sarah was born in Virginia, the daughter of Clem Carrington and Bettie Johnson, and had deep roots in the state.

Deric’s maternal grandfather was named Inocencio/Crescencio Collazo. Inocencio is listed as “Mulatto” or “Blanco” on U.S. Censuses.

Deric’s maternal grandmother was named Esperanza. Esperanza is listed as “Negro” or “Colored” on U.S. Censuses.
